Forest of Dean
City of Hereford is close byWhether you want to spend time exploring castles, strolling around gardens or learning about our unique border heritage, Grosmont provides an ideal base for visits to many different types of attractions.
There are castles, like Raglan, Goodrich and Chepstow, and abbeys such as Tintern and Llanthony, wonderful buildings in stunning locations. For garden lovers there is plenty of inspiration, with gardens ranging from the large to the small, from the grand to the informal.
Industrial history is represented at Blaenavon World Heritage Site, with the ironworks, featured in the BBC's popular series The Coalhouse and the Big Pit National Mining Museum where visitors can learn about the pit's past from the men who once worked there.
Throughout the year there is a feast of musical and literary treats, with, among others, the Three Choirs and Abbey Dore festivals for music-lovers, the Guardian Hay Literary Festival for book worms and Abergavenny Food Festival for inspiration.
Finally, for sporting enthusiasts, there are opportunities to spend time at the races, play golf or visit Cardiff for the rugby. You will also find idyllic local streams and rivers for fishing, or you can take to the skies in a hot air balloon or to the hills on horseback.
The only limit is time...
