On Sunday March 29th in St. Nicholas Church, Grosmont, the Bishop of Monmouth, The Rt. Reverend Dominic Walker, licensed Jean Prosser as the new Priest-in-Charge of the parishes of Grosmont, Llanfair Cilgoed, Llangattock Lingoed and Skenfrith.
The celebrations started with tea in the Nave, the refreshments being provided by the four parishes. Over 120 people, including invited guests and clergy from the diocese, attended the service that followed. The Ministry Team were presented to the Bishop and before making her declaration of obedience and being licensed, Jean spoke of her service under the four previous rectors of Grosmont.
The service included an anthem specially composed by Lynn Hounsome, a recital on the harp by Maisie Gray and a dramatic reading of the gospel by local young people. There were solemn moments, funny moments and the service ended on a light-hearted note, as the final procession went out through a stream of bubbles that filled the chancel.
